Bollywood actresses who adorned elaborate costumes in films!

A good actor will do anything to bring authenticity to his/her role, and Bollywood actors have time and again proved that they take their job seriously. Be it performing a life-threatening stunt, or wearing a costume that weighs a whopping 35 kgs, they will take it all in their stride.

Here is a list of Bollywood actresses who adorned costumes that weighed at least half their own weight and did so in style!

The latest to join the list is Anushka Sharm who had a difficult time shooting for the song, 'Channa Mereya', from Karan Johar's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'. The bridal outfit adorned by the actress apparently weighed over 20 kilos. As the song was picturised on the first floor of a palace with no elevators, Anushka had no option but to climb the stairs which served as a difficult exercise for her.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's 'Mirzya' which released on Friday, October 7, features actress Saiyami Kher in a wedding ensemble which weighs 14.5 kg in addition to the 1.5 crore worth jewellery. As the actress will be seen tying the knot in a Rajputana style wedding ceremony, the director went all out to make sure everything was perfect to the t.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is said to be very accurate about the outfits and props he uses in his films. This only meant that lead actress Deepika Padukone had to rise up to the challenge and carry all that weight on her able shoulders. Not just that, she had to make it look good at the same time. Deepika's lehenga in 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela' was designed by Anju Modi and weighed 30 kg! Later the actress was also seen wearing a 20kg armour in her magnum opus 'Baajirao Mastani'!

Ashutosh Gowarikar's grand production 'Jodha Akbar' was beautiful and grand in every sense of the world. The film provided the perfect set-up of the Mughal era. They even went as far as moulding 400 kg of gold and semi-precious stones to recreate Jodha’s jewellery for the film that Aishwarya carried off effortlessly.

This legendary actress who is known for her dance skills carried the weight of a 30 kg costume while performing on 'Kaahe Chhed Mohe' in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas'.
